The client

Since forming in 2010, Createc has been at the forefront of bridging the gap between innovative research and viable commercial applications. Initially focused on the nuclear sector, Createc has since expanded its expertise into defence, transport, and energy, applying their pioneering developments in radiation measurement, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

The essence of Createc’s operations lies in their commitment to limitless innovation; each project is seen as an opportunity to push boundaries and redefine conventions, ensuring continuous improvement at every stage.

Following a meeting between FIS360’s CEO Frank Allison and Createc CTO and Founder Matt Mellor at a Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership (CLEP) event, discussing innovation and the challenges of transforming ideas in commercial propositions, ideation and planning for the Fusion programme began.

FIS360 delivered

The Fusion programme was crafted using our highly collaborative approach to develop a thorough understanding of client needs and embed them into programme design. The Fusion programme was designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive innovation, navigate intellectual property considerations, and successfully bring technology-driven ventures to market.

The programme’s structure includes interactive workshops, team meetings, one-on-one mentorship, and pitch sessions. Key topics such as intellectual property management, market analysis, financial planning, and investment strategies are covered.

Leveraging FIS360’s extensive professional network, participants gain real-world insights from lawyers, patent agents, venture capitalists, and seasoned entrepreneurs, equipping them with the essential tools to drive growth and successfully commercialise technology.

Following the success of programme delivery to the first cohort of Fusion candidates and in response to Createc’sevolving needs, FIS360 has refined the Fusion programme with enhancements designed to further nurture a culture of innovation, increase commercial confidence across the organisation, and empower employees to identify and capitalise on new opportunities.

Measures of success

The impact of the Fusion programme is exemplified by the success story of the Situate technology, a Createc IP initiative fast-tracked towards new market applications in autonomous crowd monitoring.

This achievement showcases the programme’s effectiveness in nurturing lead entrepreneurs. Participants not only refined their value propositions but also developed robust business models and conducted comprehensive market research.

The overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants attests to Fusion’s role in fostering a more commercially savvy workforce, with specific praise for the bespoke support provided by FIS360.

The success of the Fusion programme is best reflected in the words of Dr Matt Mellor, CTO and Founder of Createc, who highlights the transformative impact of the programme:

“FIS360’s expertise in technology commercialisation has been invaluable. Their approach has not only taken our initial ideas for exploiting our IP to the next level but has also cultivated a broader understanding of the commercialisation process within our technical team. This evolution is instrumental as we support our team in moving from being technology-focused to embracing a holistic commercial perspective.”

This testimonial underscores the programme’s role in not just fostering individual growth but also in enhancing overall business acumen within Createc, aligning with the company’s ethos of continuous innovation and improvement.

What next?
