Game Changers up for Sellafield award

The Game Changers innovation programme has been shortlisted for Sellafield’s Waves 20/21 awards, in the category of Technological Innovation.

We are excited to announce that the Game Changers innovation programme, co-delivered by FIS360 and NNL (the National Nuclear Laboratory), has been shortlisted for Waves 20/21, in the category of Technological Innovation. Waves is an internal awards scheme set up by Sellafield to recognise and celebrate the work of employees, teams, and partners across the business.

The application submitted for Game Changers, “Changing the Innovation Game”, details how the programme aims to help solve some of Sellafield’s most complicated innovation challenges. The submission was chosen as one of four entries to be shortlisted in our category. A total of 166 applications were made across 10 categories.

The award for the Technological Innovation category covers advances in research and development as well as the imaginative or inventive use of technology to help deliver Sellafield’s mission. Game Changers, launched in 2016, is designed to enable more effective and efficient R & D by expanding the routes available to work with Sellafield, and now also with other site license companies across the UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s estate.

Game Changers facilitates more diverse engagement with Universities, RTOs, large corporates, small and medium-sized enterprises, and start-up companies.  Since the programme’s launch, our FIS360 experts have been involved in the assessment of over 370 applications and provided mentoring and commercialisation support to over 155 funded projects.

Virtual judging panels for Sellafield’s Waves 20/21 business awards will be taking place over the next month and the winners will be announced at an online celebration which will take place in April.

“It’s rewarding to know that our efforts to support Sellafield meet some of its most difficult challenges have been recognised,” said Frank Allison, CEO of FIS360 Ltd.
